                                  Myelography * Definition :--  Myelography is a type of x ray examination that uses a contrast medium to detect pathology of the spinal cord, including the location of a spinal cord injury, cysts, and tumors. * Indications :-- Spinal stenosis Spinal cord injury Cysts Blood in the CSF Arachnoiditis (Inflammation of the arachnoid membrane. Spinal nerve root injury Compression of the spinal cord by a herniated disc. * Contrast :-- Non ionic, water soluble, iodine based contrast media omnipaque/Ultravist is used. * Risk Factors :-- Vomiting Vertigo Neck pain Nerve root damage Meningitis Epidural abscess Contrast reaction CSF leak Haemorrhage * Equipments :-- X ray unit Fluoroscopy with spot film device Betadine Gauze piece Local anaesthetic Spinal needle Syringe Contrast Omnipaque and Surgical gloves * Preparation :-- The procedure should be explained to patient before undergoing procedure
