Definition :--

Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiohraphy is a radiological procedure used to visualize the anatomy of the biliary tract. In which contrast medium is injected into a bile duct in the liver after which x rays are taken.

Contrast :--
Iodinated contrast (dye)

Indication :--
Biliary stones
Biliary strictures

Risk Factors :---

contrast reaction

Equipments :--
Fluoroscopy Guidelines
Ultrasound Guidelines
Needle ( 22G , 15 cm long )

Procedure:--
In which a thin needle is inserted through the skin(Percutaneous) under image guidance and through the liver(Transhepatic) into a bile duct.

When the needle reaches the bile duct then dye is injected and the bile duct system is outline on x rays. And then images are taken.
